About

Alexandria Brown

Alexandria Brown is a fine arts photographer who highlights hidden details in everyday life through dramatic stills and carefully crafted lifestyle photography. She hopes to convey a warm calmness through her work complimented by crisp study of form, not only through color scheme, but also through focus and composition. After undertaking projects in both Spain and Great Britain, photographing internationally has become a passion in recent years.

She graduated from Houghton University in New York with a bachelor of science majoring in both Applied Arts and Communication. Throughout her education, she focused on exploring as many aspects of photography as possible, creating a diversified portfolio and skill set. Object photography, whether that be branded product shoots or detail shots is her favorite way of highlighting character and beauty in otherwise mundane objects.

A quote that stands out to her when thinking about photography, said by writer William Thackeray, is “The two most engaging powers of a photograph are to make new things familiar and familiar things new.” She has taken this to heart and seeks to illuminate the simple beauty in complicated forms and everyday sights.

She often uses her own creations as subjects and inspiration for her photography, as she is an avid ceramicist and enjoys creating a physical outlet for her creativity using clay. Exploring the elasticity and movement of clay is important to her as she works on a piece, oftentimes letting a specific vision come to life by way of embracing the natural tendencies of the clay. she has a similar approach to photography. Her motto is to come into the shoot with a method and a vision and let the subject speak for itself.
